About the role
- Serves as Unit B Manager for the Bureau of Land (BOL), Leaking Underground Storage Tanks (LUST) Section in accordance with regulations pertaining to 35 Illinois Administrative Code, Part 731 and Part 734.
- Serves as full-line supervisor by planning, directing, and managing/supervising professional and technical staff in the Leaking Underground Storage Tank Section.
- Directs professional and technical staff in highly complex, sensitive and controversial issues: Represents the Unit, Section, Bureau and the Agency at meetings and conferences.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Requirements
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college.
- Requires four years of progressively responsible administrative environmental work experience in a public or business organization.
- Prefers possession of a bachelor’s degree in physical or life science, geology or engineering.
- Prefers at least (4) four years of experience leading staff in applying state and federal laws & regulations pertinent to leaking underground storage tanks, funds and grants and in writing, review, and issuance of letters relating to such.
- Prefers at least (4) four years of experience in interpretation, administration, and enforcement of environmental regulations associated with leaking UST Program or similar environmental program.
- Prefers at least (4) four years of experience in analyzing, interpreting and applying complex and extensive scientific data relating to activities associated with the remediation of leaking underground storage tanks (UST) or the processes to control the migration of contamination from the tanks.
- Prefers at least (4) four years of experience working with reimbursement claims under the UST Fund reimbursement program in compliance with applicable environmental regulations.
- Prefers at least (4) four years of experience in communicating with all levels of stakeholders in an organization, both internal and external.
- Prefers at least (4) four years of experience in preparing and presenting comprehensive reports, memos, correspondence, etc. in a clear and concise manner.
- Prefers at least (4) four years of experience in supervising professional staff in an office setting.
- Requires a current and valid driver’s license.
