About the role
- Serves as a Human Resources Representative for the division of Human Resources, under the office of the Director;
- Performs in-depth personnel functions preparing and processing documents for FMLA.;
- Investigates and responds to inquiries from employees, management, and Central Management Services (CMS) related to employee Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) issues;
- Provides guidance and training to supervisors and HR Liaisons on the provisions, procedures, and guidelines on FMLA;
- Provides interpretation and explanation of the established rules, policies and procedures related to specific leave requests;
- Interprets and implements bargaining unit contracts as they relate to leaves;
- Responds to inquiries and provides guidance and counsel to employees related to retirement/disability benefits;
- Processes all State Retirement System (SRS) forms, conducts pre-retirement workshops with employees, prepares and mails retirement information packets to employees;
- Processes all retirement and disability leave of absence paperwork and distributes to the SRS and payroll timely;
- Performs research, conducts studies to complete specialized reports as requested;
- Creates spreadsheets and tracks all Leaves;
- Ensures appropriate documentation is received and communicates verbally and in writing with physicians and their staff regarding documents and status on Leave of Absences;
- Processes all required forms to payroll and the State Retirement System accordingly;
- Works with SRS and payroll to resolve any issues;
- Creates and maintains spreadsheets and tracks retirement information as requested by management.
Requirements
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development to completion of four years of college.
- Requires one year of professional experience preferably in Human Resources, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
- Prefers two years working knowledge of public or private sector Personnel Code, Rules, Position Classification Plan, Pay Plan, Collective Bargaining contracts, departmental policies, and procedures.
- Prefers two years experience with Leave of Absence programs and procedures, specifically the Family Medical Leave Act.
- Prefers two years experience in using computer systems, software, templates, or other guides.
- Prefers two years experience maintaining records of a highly confidential nature.
- Prefers one year experience preparing and executing presentations for others, to provide information.
- Prefers one year experience developing and maintaining successful and professional working relationships with a wide variety of staff.
