About the role
- Organizes, plans, executes, controls, and evaluates the operation of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Program.
- Provides oversight and direction regarding Workers' Compensation policies and procedures to approximately 120 Workers Compensation Coordinators located in the agencies, boards, commissions, and universities in the Northern and Southern District.
- Serves as a representative of the agencies for all Workers’ Compensation litigation and claims, working with the Attorney General’s office to determine litigation strategies.
- Monitors and evaluates the TPA’s overall quality assurance activities including the collection of data, complex analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, root cause analysis and cost containment.
- Develops and maintains effective communication among the agencies, CMS, TPA, OAG, claimants, and medical and pharmacology providers.
Requirements
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with coursework in public or business administration, business marketing, labor, or personnel.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a claims processing role for a public or business organization.
- Prefers four (4) years of professional experience in workers' compensation claims processing role.
- Prefers four (4) years of professional experience with workers' compensation claims including, but not limited to initial determination of compensability, review of medical records, and calculation of award and/or settlement.
- Prefers three (3) years’ professional experience exercising judgement and discretion in developing, implementing, and interpreting departmental policies and procedures.
- Prefers three (3) years of professional experience in training staff or associates including creating content for group presentations.
- Prefers three (3) years professional experience managing litigated claims.
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
- Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to travel in the performance of duties.
