About the role

  • Travels to conduct “onsite” inspections and surveys of existing health care facilities to determine conformance with applicable laws, regulations, and codes relating to certain federal assistance programs, certain federal certification programs and generally recognized health care facility standards
  • Conducts inspections and make comments regarding “in process” construction.
  • Receive, review, approve or disapprove and/or comment upon health care facility drawings, specifications and change orders in accordance with the various applicable laws, regulations and codes.
  • Complete the required inspection forms in office or on site, informs medical facilities of deficiencies, evaluates and approves proposed methods of correcting deficiencies.
  • Attend educational seminars relating to health care facilities and design and construction standards.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in architecture or architectural studies.
  • Requires possession of a valid Illinois certificate as a registered architect.
  • Three (3) years of professional architectural experience preferred.
  • One (1) year experience conducting on-site inspections and surveys of health care facilities to determine conformance with applicable laws, regulations and codes
  • One (1) year experience conducting inspections of construction projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of architecture.
  • Thorough knowledge of building construction practices, building materials and trades capabilities and construction.
  • One (1) year experience communicating architectural themes effectively to nonarchitect parties without utilizing technical jargon.
  • Ability to independently evaluate project elements and make sound architectural decisions.
  • Elementary knowledge of basic engineering principles.
  • One (1) year experience in Microsoft Word, processing, and spreadsheet applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
