About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the accounting department
Supervise and review the work of Accounts Executives and junior staff
Monitor task progress and ensure all deadlines are met
Uphold and enforce compliance with accounting policies and procedures
Act as the key point of contact for auditors and handle client queries promptly
Support senior management by carrying out requests and escalating matters where necessary
Prepare and submit VAT returns and year-end management accounts
Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records for clients on a monthly basis

Requirements

What you’ll need

UOM Bachelor's or Masters in Accounts or ACCA qualified or equivalent
Maltese Value Added Tax (VAT) qualification acquired from an established professional institution in Malta – non-negotiable
2+ years of experience in a client accounting role in Malta
Fluency in English at a C2/native level both written and spoken
Fluency in Italian is a plus
Strong understanding of GAPSME and IFRS
Ability to work without supervision
Ability to handle confidential information and perform under pressure
Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
Strong prioritisation and organisational skills
