About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive the Federation’s strategic direction for safety and security matters.
- Supervise the security team (3-5 members) and manage the program budget.
- Conduct comprehensive on-site assessments and auditing emergency protocols for facility hardening.
- Serve as Incident Commander during major events and establish organization-wide emergency communication systems.
- Lead the security team in training programs ensuring content remains current with intelligence and community needs.
- Monitor and analyze global and local threats, disseminating intelligence to Federation leadership and community partners.
- Provide senior-level oversight for the program’s grant strategy and ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven expertise in managing security operations and programs, specifically within nonprofit or community-based organizations.
- Results-oriented leader with high personal integrity; must pass comprehensive criminal, financial, and reputational background checks.
- Ability to act as both a strategic visionary and a hands-on practitioner, remaining engaged in field-level security work as needed.
- First-hand knowledge of security mitigation measures and systems to appropriately conduct site assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Proficient in developing operational policies, emergency communication protocols, and FEMA/DHS interoperability requirements.
- Experienced in delivering security training programs and managing others in the execution of safety drills.
- Skilled at building trusted, high-level relationships with law enforcement, government agencies, and community leaders.
- Exceptional verbal and written skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment on sensitive, high-stakes reputational issues.
- Ability to obtain a government SECRET level clearance.
- CPP (Certified Protection Professional), CCTP (Certified Counter Terrorism Practitioner), TLO (Terrorism Laison Officer, law enforcement certification only) or PSP (Physical Security Professional) designation.
- Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite, teleconferencing platforms, and modern threat investigation methodologies.
- Available for extensive regional travel and "on-call" status, including responsiveness during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
