About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the lead advisor to agencies on endowment development, legacy giving, capital planning, and long-term financial sustainability.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive institutional partnership and growth strategy to deepen relationships, expand service offerings, and increase institutional assets under management.
- Centralize institutional relationship strategy across Philanthropy, Community Impact, Finance, Impact Investing, and Events to ensure coordinated engagement and growth.
- Design tools, training and programming that build agency partner capacity and strengthen long-term sustainability.
- Drive measurable growth in institutional assets through expanded partnerships and adoption of Federation services.
- Integrate global partnerships into local institutional strategy to strengthen leadership, deepen engagement, and enhance organizational sustainability.
- Direct administration of agency funds in collaboration with Finance team, including account management, grantmaking, contribution processing, reporting, and fund-by-fund record-keeping across data platforms, in close coordination with the Finance and Accounting department.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to institutional leaders on endowment structure, capital planning, and gift planning strategies.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, materials, and strategic recommendations for agency boards, prospects, and new partner organizations.
- Partner with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to develop and manage the agency partner business development pipeline.
- Advise the Community Impact team on the strategic use and governance of programmatic and field-of-interest endowment funds.
- Work in partnership with internal teams responsible for fund administration and financial reporting.
- Partner with the Impact Investing team to serve as an agency point of contact for deal sourcing.
- Work closely with the Managing Director of Community Impact on capital planning projects.
- Partner cross-functionally to design and launch mission-aligned financing vehicles that support agency capital campaigns and strengthen the Federation’s role as a community investment partner.
- Establish metrics and systems for measuring capital deployment, community impact, and institutional growth.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Master's degree preferred
- Strong relationship builder with a demonstrated ability to engage and maintain trust with diverse stakeholders, including nonprofit leaders, board members, and community partners
- Familiarity with nonprofit governance and board operations
- Experience drafting and reviewing agreements preferred
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail required
- Active presence in the local community, with a commitment to showing up at key events, cultivating partnerships, and staying attuned to emerging needs and challenges
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and engage in-person with partner organizations on a regular basis
- Established network within the nonprofit and/or philanthropic sector, with the ability to listen closely and identify opportunities to support organizational sustainability and impact
- Financial and investment familiarity, including comfort with discussing budgets, investments, and funding vehicles
- Familiarity with fundraising strategies and philanthropic models, including donor engagement and long-term fund development
- Strong interpersonal instincts combined with a strategic mindset for relationship management and partnership growth.
