About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead content-led SEO strategies and roadmaps aligned with client objectives, audience needs and commercial priorities.
- Act as a trusted senior contact for clients, turning complex search and content insight into clear recommendations, decisions and next steps.
- Set priorities across multiple content workstreams, providing constructive challenge and pushback when requests, timings or scope create delivery risk.
- Translate strategy into practical delivery plans, briefs and workflows, coordinating internal specialists, client teams, writers, freelancers and external partners.
- Lead content audits, keyword and topic research, competitor analysis, content-gap analysis and on-page optimisation.
- Shape editorial and e-commerce content programmes, including category and product landing pages, evergreen content, campaign content and localisation.
- Review and quality-assure briefs, copy and recommendations so outputs are accurate, useful, on-brand and optimised for search.
- Define content measurement frameworks and use performance data to improve priorities, recommendations and future activity.
- Work closely with technical SEO, digital PR, data, creative, media and client teams to make content SEO part of an integrated marketing approach.
- Apply AI-enabled workflows responsibly to research, briefing, optimisation and quality assurance, while maintaining strong editorial judgement.
- Stay current on UK search behaviour, Google developments, AI-led discovery and generative search, translating change into practical client action.
- Mentor managers and junior team members, raise delivery standards and contribute to the development of Jellyfish content SEO products and ways of working.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant experience in SEO content strategy and delivery, ideally in an agency or similarly fast-moving, multi-client environment.
- Experience working with large UK brands and complex websites; e-commerce experience is strongly preferred.
- Evidence of owning client-facing content programmes from strategic recommendation through to implementation and measurement.
- Strong working knowledge of GA4, Google Search Console and enterprise SEO or keyword research platforms.
- Advanced ability with Excel or Google Sheets, and confidence using AI tools to analyse information and improve content workflows.
- Excellent presentation and storytelling skills, including the ability to create clear, persuasive slides for senior audiences.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with a detailed understanding of UK language, culture and search behaviour.
- A sound understanding of technical SEO fundamentals and how content SEO connects with digital PR, UX, conversion, creative and wider media activity.
