About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the design, development, implementation, and lifecycle management of enterprise EHR and clinical applications
  • Align application strategy with organizational goals to optimize clinical workflows, provider experience, and patient outcomes
  • Partner with senior clinical and operational leaders to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and drive technology adoption
  • Govern application configuration, optimization, and integration for scalability and interoperability
  • Lead teams through application planning, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement
  • Manage vendor relationships, budgets, and performance metrics
  • Manage adherence to the Guiding Principles of the Epic EMR implementation
  • Develop project business cases and RFP/RFI requests
  • Define requirements, deliverables, objectives, resources, and project schedules
  • Ensure scope, change, communications, and risk-management processes are followed
  • Identify and mitigate tasks, conflict, and communication issues
  • Escalate issues and risks to executive leadership
  • Manage Epic and related projects through successful completion in a matrix project-management organization
  • Ensure outcomes and deliverables meet organizational goals, objectives, and quality standards
  • Advocate for and facilitate operational change and transformation associated with Epic EMR and other application technology projects
  • Support staff growth and development, including managers
  • Champion innovation, operational efficiency, collaboration, and accountability across multidisciplinary teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 7 years implementation and support experience
  • Progressive experience in Information Services, or a combination of Information Services and direct healthcare experience
  • Medium to large-scale implementation/upgrades experience
  • Project resource and budget management
  • Large Hospital/IDN Information Technology experience and/or healthcare operations experience
  • Program/large project management
  • Implementation/upgrade facilitation
  • Integrated systems architecture planning, development, and implementation
  • Technical collaboration, including interfaces, hardware, and reporting
  • Team leadership
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Triaging on-call/disaster recovery/business continuity
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Healthcare
  • Preferred: 10 years progressive experience in Information Services, or a combination of Information Services and direct healthcare experience
  • Preferred: Implementation and support experience
  • Preferred: EPIC Certification or PMP certification
