About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Repair, install, inspect, troubleshoot, and calibrate biomedical and related equipment
- Complete preventive maintenance workloads and maintain high PM compliance
- Review, modify, develop, and implement preventive maintenance manuals and quality assurance testing procedures
- Review equipment malfunction or misuse incident reports and take actions to ensure patient safety
- Lead new equipment evaluations, acquisitions, and installations
- Obtain quotes and work with technical specifications for bids and capital purchases
- Evaluate repair scope and sources, determine cost-effective actions, and maximize equipment uptime
- Identify best-value products, labor, and parts sources to minimize total service cost
- Provide in-service training to clinical engineering service technicians
- Oversee external contractors and vendors servicing specialized equipment
- Respond to diagnostic ultrasound, portable fluoroscopy, dye injector, and operating-room service calls
- Document repair and maintenance services using work-order tracking systems
- Maintain accurate device control records through database management
- Visit multiple business locations as required by employment location
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields, or four years of preferred work experience in lieu of the degree
- 4 years of progressive experience performing electronic and/or electromechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on general and specialized biomedical equipment
- Ability to respond to diagnostic ultrasound, portable fluoroscopy, dye injector, and operating-room service calls
- Ability to communicate and function independently in a customer-focused service environment
- Ability to use computer software-based work-order tracking systems
- Proficiency in database management for accurate device control records
- Competence and independence in potential crisis situations while appropriately alerting management
- Flexibility in accommodating customer needs
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic test equipment and simulators
- Proficiency repairing and maintaining at least eight specified biomedical device categories
- Ability to work in a team environment and remain self-motivated and self-disciplined
- Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
- Ability to visit multiple business locations
- Pennsylvania driver's license required for applicable employment locations
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.; frequent sitting, standing, and keyboard use
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields
- Preferred: 5 years of progressive electronic and/or electromechanical repair and preventive maintenance experience
- Preferred: CBET certification
