About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage multiple large projects involving medical equipment specification, ordering, and installation across several sites
- Repair, install, inspect, troubleshoot, and calibrate medical imaging equipment
- Complete preventive maintenance workload and maintain at least 95% PM compliance
- Prioritize scheduled maintenance according to medical equipment maintenance policy
- Conduct inventory assessments and audits and recommend specialty equipment purchases
- Procure best-value products, labor, and parts to minimize total service cost
- Participate in continuous performance improvement initiatives related to medical equipment
- Oversee external contractors and vendors providing specialized equipment services
- Review, modify, develop, and implement preventive maintenance and quality assurance testing procedures
- Provide guidance to colleagues maintaining imaging equipment in other modalities
- Review device recalls, problem notifications, and equipment-related incident reports to ensure patient safety
- Attend vendor-sponsored technical training service schools
- Participate in on-call rotation and upgrade support
- Perform special projects and other duties supporting the hospital system
- Work flexible schedules, including possible after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate degree or military training in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
- Specialized imaging training in specific supported equipment
- 5 years of progressive experience performing direct component and/or board-level repair and maintenance on general and model-specific medical imaging equipment
- Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques
- Knowledge of electronic and test equipment, quality assurance procedures, and preventive maintenance procedures
- Knowledge of alternative parts providers for electronic or electromechanical equipment
- Knowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systems
- Ability to use vendor service documentation, technical manuals, and electronics industry parts and specification materials
- Ability to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systems
- Ability to work in a team environment and remain self-motivated and self-disciplined
- Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
- Ability to visit multiple business locations and travel to remote hospital sites
- Ability to work flexible schedules as needed
- Preferred: attendance at five or more equipment-specific training courses, or extensive hands-on experience considered equivalent
- Preferred: 7 years of progressive medical imaging repair and maintenance experience
- Preferred: CRES - Radiology Equipment Specialist
- Preferred: Military (DoD) Biomedical Equipment Technician certification
- Preferred: Vendor/manufacturer OEM repair or training certifications or similar credentials
- Additional training in modalities such as CT, MRI, and Cath Lab
- Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) experience or credential noted as additional experience
