About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete preventive maintenance workload and maintain high PM compliance
  • Perform safety checks, repairs, installations, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance on biomedical, imaging, communications, and related equipment
  • Identify and obtain supplies and materials needed to service and repair equipment cost-effectively
  • Establish and maintain technical literature, standards, specifications, and supporting documentation
  • Ensure biomedical equipment meets regulatory requirements and quality-control standards
  • Present updates on new trends to peer groups
  • Provide in-service training on biomedical equipment and electrical safety
  • Review FDA, ECRI, manufacturer, and other recall and problem-notification sources
  • Review equipment malfunction or misuse incident reports and take actions supporting patient safety
  • Participate in continuous performance improvement initiatives
  • Attend vendor-sponsored technical training schools
  • Participate in on-call rotation, upgrade support, special projects, and other hospital-system duties
  • Travel between business and remote hospital locations as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years of progressive experience performing direct component and/or board-level repair and maintenance on general and model-specific medical imaging equipment
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance, and preventive maintenance procedures
  • Knowledge of alternative parts providers for electronic or electromechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques
  • Knowledge of computer software-based work-order tracking systems
  • Ability to use vendor service documentation, technical manuals, and electronics parts/specification materials
  • Ability to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systems
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be self-motivated and self-disciplined
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to visit multiple business locations and travel to remote hospital sites
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
  • Additional modality training in Anesthesia, Ultrasound, X-Ray, Cath Lab, or similar preferred
  • CRES, Military (DoD) Biomedical Equipment Technician, OEM repair/training, and CBET certifications listed as preferred
  • Some after-hours, weekend, and holiday work may be required
  • Participation in weekly after-hours and weekend on-call rotation
  • Site-to-site travel may be required
