About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on specialized biomedical and imaging equipment, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies
  • Complete preventive maintenance workload for assigned equipment and maintain high PM compliance
  • Manage device-control databases and enter accurate scheduled and non-scheduled work-order data
  • Evaluate malfunctioning equipment repairs and determine cost-effective actions to maximize uptime
  • Identify and obtain parts, supplies, and technical resources for servicing, testing, and repairing equipment
  • Repair defective or malfunctioning equipment
  • Provide in-service training on biomedical equipment and electrical safety
  • Assist with, evaluate, and monitor outside service providers
  • Participate in continuous performance-improvement initiatives related to medical equipment use
  • Review FDA, ECRI, manufacturer, and other device recall and problem-notification sources
  • Review equipment malfunction or misuse incident reports and take actions to ensure patient safety
  • Attend vendor-sponsored technical training schools
  • Participate in on-call rotation, upgrade support, and special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year of progressive experience performing direct component and/or board-level repair and maintenance on general and model-specific medical imaging equipment
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and preventive maintenance procedures
  • Knowledge of alternative parts providers for electronic or electromechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques
  • Knowledge of computer software-based work-order tracking systems
  • Ability to use vendor service documentation, technical manuals, and electronics industry parts and specification materials
  • Ability to visit multiple business locations, dependent on employment location
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and remain self-motivated and self-disciplined
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  • Preferred: CRES - Radiology Equipment Specialist
  • Preferred: Military (DoD) Biomedical Equipment Technician certification
  • Preferred: Vendor and manufacturer (OEM) repair/training certifications or similar credentials
  • Additional experience: Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET)
  • Flexible work schedule required for early morning or evening repairs as needed
  • Participation in weekly on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support
  • Some after-hours, weekend, and holiday work may be required
  • Some site-to-site travel may be required
