About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on biomedical equipment, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies
  • Complete preventive-maintenance workload and maintain high PM compliance
  • Provide safety checks, repairs, and installations of biomedical and communications equipment
  • Identify and obtain required supplies and materials cost-effectively
  • Maintain technical literature, manufacturer documentation, reference standards, specifications, and related biomedical-program documents
  • Ensure biomedical equipment complies with regulatory requirements and quality-control standards
  • Present updates to peers and provide in-service training on biomedical equipment and electrical safety
  • Participate in continuous performance-improvement initiatives
  • Review FDA, ECRI, manufacturer, and device-recall notifications and manage applicable issues
  • Review equipment malfunction or misuse incident reports and take actions to ensure patient safety
  • Participate in equipment evaluations, acquisitions, installations, recall/alert management, on-call rotation, and upgrade support
  • Respond to maintenance requests, perform initial assessments, verify problems, and troubleshoot equipment
  • Attend vendor-sponsored technical training schools
  • Complete special projects and other duties supporting the hospital system
  • Work across multiple business or hospital locations as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma required
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 1–2 years of progressive experience repairing and maintaining general and specialized biomedical equipment
  • Ability to perform component-level repairs at least 35% of the time
  • Proficiency repairing and performing preventive maintenance on anesthesia machines, anesthetic gas analyzers, blood cell savers, and diagnostic ultrasound machines
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance, and preventive maintenance procedures
  • Knowledge of alternative parts providers for electronic or electromechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of computer software-based work-order tracking systems
  • Ability to use vendor service documentation, technical manuals, and electronics parts/specification materials
  • CBET and/or Military (DoD) Biomedical Equipment Technician certification
  • Vendor/manufacturer (OEM) repair or training certifications, or similar credentials
  • GE PCS/Telemetry experience is a plus
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, after-hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability and willingness to travel to remote hospital sites and multiple locations
  • Participation in weekly on-call rotation
  • Ability to work in a team environment and manage changing priorities
