About the role
- Manages, directs, documents, and organizes Clinical Engineering, corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, projects, and day-to-day operational duties for assigned hospitals/sites and resources.
- Functions as the primary contact and “face of” Clinical Engineering for hospital leadership, staff, outside vendor equipment service providers, and the greater hospital system.
- Manage assigned biomedical support staff and locations, including weekly on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support.
- Provides budget development assistance and oversight.
- Monitor and assist with service, repair, and maintenance on clinical equipment and/or assigned equipment/devices/systems.
- Determines training needs for in-house service staff and recommends/implements arrangements to test equipment and tools.
- Reviews all incident reports related to equipment malfunction and/or misuse and takes appropriate actions to ensure that the equipment is taken out of service for failure mode analysis.
- Develops, analyzes, and presents the periodic cost of service reports.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, Associates Degree preferred
- Minimum 8-10 years progressive experience servicing and supporting a wide range of clinical equipment and related systems
- Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) and/or Military (DoD) Biomedical Equipment Technician certification
- Vendor and manufacturer (OEM) repair/training certification(s) or similar credentials
- Proficiency in performing database management functions
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance procedures, and preventive maintenance procedures
- Knowledge of source, use, and applications of alternative parts providers as related to electronic or electromechanical equipment
- Knowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systems
