About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coffee Preparation: Prepare high-quality coffee and espresso-based beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos, and specialty drinks, following standardized recipes.
- Order Taking: Greet guests warmly, take accurate orders, and respond to guest preferences and requests.
- Equipment Operation: Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other beverage equipment safely and efficiently.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of coffee beans, brewing methods, and drink customization options.
- Cleanliness & Sanitation: Clean and maintain all barista stations, tools, and equipment according to health and safety regulations.
- Stocking & Inventory: Stock and rotate supplies, monitor inventory levels, and report shortages or ordering needs.
- Sales & Upselling: Engage with guests to promote new beverages, pastries, and specials to increase sales.
- Guest Interaction: Provide friendly and courteous service while building rapport with repeat guests.
- Cash Handling: Process transactions accurately through the point-of-sale system, handle cash, and provide correct change.
- Schedule Flexibility: Able to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends as needed.
- Guest Assistance: Greet guests upon entry, offer assistance, and provide information about available food options.
- Cleanliness: Bus and clean tables, arrange furniture, and maintain the overall cleanliness of the breakfast area.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
- Customer Service: Friendly demeanor with strong customer service skills.
- Beverage Server Certification: Wisconsin alcohol server certification or IL Bassett
- Experience: Previous experience as a barista or in a food and beverage or customer-focused role preferred.
