About the role
- Design end-to-end conversational user journeys for JAI (from first query through resolution, escalation, and follow-up).
- Create dialog flows, conversation scripts, prompts, and error/edge-case handling that are clear, empathetic, and aligned with JAGGAER’s tone and brand.
- Partner with Product, UX, Data Science, and Engineering to translate business needs into effective conversational use cases and experiences.
- Define appropriate conversation patterns for different experiences (chat-style, mixed UI + conversation, guided flows, micro-copilots, etc.).
- Collaborate on prompt strategies and interaction patterns that leverage LLM capabilities while promoting reliability, safety, and transparency.
- Use qualitative feedback and quantitative data to refine conversational flows; propose metrics for success (e.g., containment, task completion, satisfaction, deflection).
- Contribute to UX copy and microcopy for JAI experiences, ensuring consistency across surfaces and products.
- Quickly assess the current state of conversational experiences and processes across the UX team.
- Create practical playbooks, templates, and checklists (for flows, prompts, tone of voice, error handling, safety guardrails, etc.) that others can adopt.
- Lead training sessions, workshops, and office hours to get UX team members up-to-speed on conversational design fundamentals and advanced techniques.
- Document best practices for collaboration with product, engineering, and AI/ML stakeholders when designing conversational experiences.
- Help establish reusable design standards (patterns, IA, content guidelines) for conversational UI within JAGGAER’s broader design system.
- Coach team members on how to review, critique, and continuously improve conversational experiences.
- Partner with UX researchers and product managers to identify user needs and high-impact conversational use cases.
- Plan and conduct (or support) usability testing and heuristic reviews focused on conversational interactions.
- Bring external perspective by staying aware of industry trends in conversational AI, chatbots, and AI copilots, and share relevant insights with the team.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders at different levels, from designers and engineers to product leaders.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience designing conversational experiences (chatbots, virtual assistants, voice UX, or AI copilots) in a product or consulting setting.
- A portfolio or work samples demonstrating structured conversation flows, UX writing, and measurable impact on user or business outcomes.
- Hands-on experience designing for LLM-based or AI-assisted products (e.g., chat interfaces, copilots, integrated AI assistants) or similar conversational platforms.
- Strong proficiency in UX fundamentals: information architecture, interaction patterns, content hierarchy, and user-centered design methods.
- Excellent UX writing skills with the ability to craft concise, clear, and human-friendly conversational copy.
- Experience collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and engineers from discovery through delivery.
- Comfortable working standard US business hours aligned to the Eastern Time Zone to collaborate with core JAGGAER teams.
