About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Procure raw materials and components, with a focus on copper, steel, and other metal commodities, to support NPI and production schedules
  • Collaborate with Planning and Operations teams to ensure material availability aligns with demand forecasts and capacity plans
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize cost, quality, and supply continuity
  • Monitor supplier performance and proactively resolve issues related to delivery, quality, capacity, or service
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data and transactions within ERP systems, including SAP
  • Analyze and manage inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities by ensuring timely material sourcing and supplier readiness
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance purchasing processes, supplier performance, and operational efficiency
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders across the organization
  • Monitor commodity markets and industry trends to identify potential risks and opportunities related to cost and supply
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement procedures, and ethical sourcing standards
  • Comply with all company security policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience procuring metals or commodity-based materials preferred
  • Experience supporting NPI, supply chain, or production operations preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered
  • Strong understanding of purchasing, procurement, and supply chain management principles
  • Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business software tools
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret demand forecasts and align purchasing strategies with business requirements
  • Knowledge of supplier relationship management and performance evaluation
  • Ability to analyze market trends and commodity pricing to support sourcing decisions
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Planning, Operations, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.
