About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate the cause and origin of failures, damages, or defects in mechanical systems
- Analyze the failure of mechanical systems and determine the cause
- Perform field investigations and document damaged property
- Research failure modes and provide recommendations for repair
- Prepare accurate and thorough reports for clients
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams on complex assignments
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 3–5 years of mechanical engineering experience within insurance or legal forensics
- Active Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Willingness to participate in expert witness work and provide court testimony
- Must be flexible to travel and accommodate approximately 30–50% travel
