About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the initial setup and configuration of the Datasphere platform, establishing foundational design patterns, environments, and operational standards.
Define and implement the Datasphere architecture, including space organization, separation of concerns, and alignment to business domains.
Design and establish data integration between Datasphere and upstream / downstream systems, including Databricks and SAP.
Lead the identification and assessment of on-going maintenance and support needs for the Datasphere platform.
Provide ongoing maintenance and support, in coordination with other teams, for the Datasphere platform.
Partner with business stakeholders to design and implement the Datasphere security model.
Ensure the platform aligns with enterprise data governance standards and security best practices.
Work directly with business and technical stakeholders to understand data, access, and operational requirements.
Translate business needs into technical designs that balance stability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Develop and maintain infrastructure as code to enable automation of configuring and supporting the Datasphere platform.
Create and maintain clear technical documentation for Datasphere architecture, security models, and operational processes.
Mentor team members and provide technical guidance related to Datasphere usage and design.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
4-10 years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or analytics platform implementation
Experience with cloud-based data platforms and modern data engineering tools
Strong understanding of data platform architecture and data modeling concepts
Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with automation, scripting, or infrastructure-as-code concepts
Ability to evaluate and recommend platform design patterns based on business and technical requirements
Prior experience standing up or modernizing an enterprise analytics or data sharing platform (preferred)
Experience working in cross-functional teams with data engineering, security, and business stakeholders (preferred)
Exposure to large-scale data platforms and integration with enterprise data platforms (preferred)
Experience with SAP, Databricks, Snowflake, Azure, or Terraform (preferred)
Experience with SAP, SAP BW, SAP Data Products or SAP Business Content (preferred)
