About the role
- Monitor and optimize day-to-day operation of assigned process units to improve throughput, energy efficiency, and product quality.
- Provide technical troubleshooting support to Operations during upsets, abnormal conditions, and equipment failures, including root cause analysis and corrective action development.
- Develop and maintain mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for assigned units.
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce variability, increase on-stream time, and minimize raw material, energy, and chemical losses.
- Lead and support Management of Change (MOC) activities, including technical justification, risk assessment, and documentation updates.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA/HAZOP), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and incident investigations.
- Define operating limits and control strategies for critical process variables and work with Process Control Engineers to implement control improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from 4-year college or university
- 5+ years related experience in chemical manufacturing, fertilizer, acid plants, or similar continuous process industry
- Troubleshooting real plant equipment (reactors, absorbers, evaporators, scrubbers, etc.)
- PSM experience is a plus.
