The Senior Process Engineer will act as the subject matter expert for ammonia for the JR Simplot Mining and Manufacturing Division of Agribusiness.
The primary responsibility is the development, implementation, and support of optimization and reliability strategies for the ammonia plant in Rock Springs, WY.
The ideal candidate will be based in either Pocatello, ID or Rock Springs, WY.
Key responsibilities include evaluating processes and operations; providing technical support for process troubleshooting; participating in root cause analyses / incident investigations; providing input to safety and regulatory efforts including PSM requirements and Process Hazard Analyses; providing support for environmental and permitting efforts; providing process support for various improvement, maintenance, and/or debottlenecking projects; providing technical support to operations and maintenance personnel; mentoring engineering personnel; developing and implementing best practices across facilities for the handling, storage, and processing of ammonia; providing technical support in the creation and maintenance of engineering documents (Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, operating procedures, equipment specifications, etc.).
Typical Education Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering or applicable technical discipline.
Relevant Experience 5+ years of releveant experience or training required. 10+ years of experience in production of ammonia (or similar processes with common unit operations – steam methane reforming, shift conversion, air separation units, etc.)
Working knowledge of OSHA and PSM regulations.
Travel Required Up to 25%.
