About the role

  • Overseeing and leading the activities of the Quality Assurance Team
  • Ensure the processing of quality products that meet customer specifications
  • Making sure the Shift Manager's team is aware of the quality of produced and packaged products
  • Attend and participate in all training activities
  • Ensure the acquired skills and knowledge are applied
  • Ensure sanitation of equipment and housekeeping of the entire facility
  • Comply with company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Manager
  • Leads the Quality Assurance Team on assigned shift
  • Communicates with the Shift Manager and other team members regularly
  • Ensures the Lab area is properly staffed and maintained
  • Ensures all information is entered into MMS accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ensures the correct completion of written documents and procedures required
  • Ensures verification of critical control points (CCP) accurately and in a timely manner
  • Leads QA team members ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Ensures team meetings are meaningful and encourages expressing issues

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1+ years related experience and/or training
  • Must have successfully completed the Job Skill Evaluation
  • Must complete the Structured Job Training program within recommended timeframe
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculate percentages
  • Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to demonstrate manual and physical dexterity
  • Must be able to work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals in small areas
  • Must be able to tell time and convert regular time to military time
  • Must be able to use a computer and navigate through various applications
  • Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks
  • Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods
  • Must be able to work in extreme environments (cold, hot, humid and slippery)
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must have an acceptable attendance record
  • Must have an acceptable safety record
  • Must qualify and successfully complete the Training/Orientation Program
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Quality Assurance team functions, Product specifications/standards, Quality Assurance team customer expectations, EEO/Plant policies, and Statistics
  • Must possess good human relations skills including leadership, delegating, coaching, participative management style, subordinate development, and problem solving
  • Must possess strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to use portable radios and base radios for communication
