About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own complex and high-value overdue accounts from start to resolution.
  • Take accounts from negotiated settlement, litigation or insolvency.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders to secure the best outcome for iwoca and our customers.
  • Manage a portfolio of accounts with outstanding balances up to £1m through to completion.
  • Manage inbound and initiate outbound telephone calls, letters and emails with care and professionalism.
  • Work closely with small to medium business owners to understand their financial situation and agree on realistic repayment plans where possible.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • End-to-end, hands-on experience of debt recovery through the UK courts and/or insolvency procedures. This is essential — you'll be expected to assess the strategic recovery position on each account to maintain your assigned portfolio.
  • At least 2 years debt recovery and / or insolvency experience, ideally in the commercial/business sector.
  • Sound commercial judgement and the confidence to make decisions on complex, high-value accounts.
  • A patient, empathetic and professional manner, especially in difficult conversations.
  • Strong communication skills, accuracy and confidence.
  • Experience managing a large portfolio of high-value business cases (desirable).
  • Experience in the finance or lending industry (desirable).
  • Experience with bankruptcy and high level litigation cases (desirable).
  • Business acumen and genuine enthusiasm for helping SMEs (desirable).
