About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Grow the assigned Illinois territory by developing existing business for Buehler equipment and consumables through on-site customer visits and collaboration with QC customers, leads, Inside Sales, Marketing, and Management
  • Meet or exceed assigned territory sales goals
  • Grow existing consumable business with high-volume quality-control accounts through account management and collaboration with the Business Development Specialist
  • Maintain daily face-to-face contact with QC customers, targeting 5 high-quality meetings with decision-makers per week
  • Provide forecast data to sales management
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Sales Manager and communicate territory issues, order issues, and sales-related business challenges
  • Manage the sales pipeline and track customer contacts and account details using Dynamics 365
  • Identify and build relationships with key decision-makers
  • Identify and analyze customer needs and develop commercial arguments
  • Set up and install Buehler equipment and instruct customers on basic operations and functions
  • Maintain and control assigned company assets

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree preferable in an Engineering or Science discipline; Material Science a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of outside sales experience selling technical equipment in a laboratory or production setting
  • Ability to manage a multistate territory and sell technical products, preferably to laboratory or testing environments, with a sales territory greater than 4MM
  • Knowledge of metallurgical sample preparation equipment, consumables, and applications preferred
  • Experience with various selling techniques and customer service skills
  • Computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 5–25 lbs
  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 70%
  • Must live near or within Chicago, IL
