About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, implement, and continuously improve finance risk and control frameworks
- Partner with Finance control owners to identify control gaps and resolve issues
- Lead the Finance Control Self-Assessment (CSA) process
- Lead the Finance monitoring process and assess control performance
- Translate monitoring outputs into management information, insights, and reporting
- Track remediation activities through completion, prioritise actions, monitor progress, and escalate issues
- Provide practical guidance and constructive challenge to process owners
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to simplify control frameworks
- Support material control remediation activities aligned with UK Corporate Governance Code Provision 29
- Coordinate the annual fraud risk assessment and support effective fraud-risk management
- Collaborate across Finance, Risk, and second-line assurance teams
- Travel occasionally within the UK between London and Manchester hubs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Professionally qualified in accountancy, risk, or audit (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
- Proven experience in financial controls, risk management, or assurance within a complex corporate organisation
- Demonstrated ability and comfort building finance risk and control frameworks from scratch
- Familiarity with the UK Corporate Governance Code (Provision 29) and the failure to prevent fraud offences under ECCTA 2023
- Practical experience delivering change within risk and control environments
- Strong working-level stakeholder management skills
- Ability to simplify complex concepts and focus on what matters
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and delivery-oriented mindset
- Strong judgment and proportionate, risk-based thinking
- Highly organised and meticulous with detail
- Comfortable working at pace through evolving environments with changing priorities
- Collaborative and approachable style
- Proactive and reliable approach to sharing good practice and refining frameworks
- Flexibility in working hours to meet key projects and reporting deliverables
