About the role
- Act as the SME and Lead for a small team of VOIP engineers to support the Government’s organization which has locations throughout the U.S
- Support includes weekdays and after hours and weekend support
- Design, configure, and deploy Cisco Collaboration solutions, including Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Unity Connection, UCCX, and Finesse
- Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patches to VoIP systems to ensure optimal performance and security
- Proven experience working with voice service providers and carriers deploying and managing TDM and SIP based environments
- Lead for evaluating, designing and/or implementing new VOIP / unified communication solutions
- Serve as the interface between the Program, customer, and end-users to ensure that the technical VOIP solution(s) meet mission needs
- Ensure that VOIP related projects are implemented on time and within cost
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to a wide range of areas including initially setting up, maintaining, or recovering customer VOIP sites, telecommunications circuits, routing and switching, Cisco VoIP / Unified Communications platform, VOIP handsets, etc
- Troubleshoot and resolve VoIP-related issues, including call quality, connectivity, and configuration problems
- Work closely with other groups such as network, video conferencing, A/V and others to ensure a holistic solution meets mission needs
- Provide guidance and training for junior VOIP engineers
- Working with multiple vendors, subject matter experts, and service providers
- Attending customer meetings and providing detailed reporting as required
- Provide weekly incidents reports, status reports and project task status to the Program Manager and Government
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math or Engineering, or 10 years of relevant experience
- A minimum of (8) eight years of demonstrated technical experience with VOIP solutions
- Demonstrated experience supporting a government customer VOIP environment with distributed sites in multiple U.S. locations
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Comfortable interfacing with Government leadership
- Demonstrated experienced leading or mentoring junior VOIP engineers
- Position requires candidate to obtain a DOJ Public Trust clearance which can take 4-6 weeks to process and must be complete prior to starting employement
