About the role

  • Provide support to include all database administration activities required to provide accessible, secure, scalable, and reliable databases to the customer.
  • Primary responsibility: Managing Database Availability, Accessibility, Performance, Integrity, Enhancements, and ongoing Customer Delivery.
  • Provide all activities related to database administration.
  • Communicate with management, leadership, technicians, and end users effectively regarding database related issues.
  • Perform 24x7 on-call support per the on-call support schedule.
  • Support *NIX/Oracle, Unix Oracle databases and their structures.
  • Maintain database system integrity and security.
  • Administration of storage, backup, restoration, and replication software.
  • Tracking of vendor maintenance and support agreements to ensure coverage.
  • Provisioning of user-ids for all production and database servers.
  • Participating in application design reviews.
  • Initiate and support configuration management and change control processes and procedures.
  • Implementing and production support for database technology enhancements.
  • Creating and maintain of standard operating procedures for production and DR database platforms as directed.
  • Database Performance monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Complete required and recommended training/certifications for continued career development.

Requirements

  • Oracle Certified Professional desired
  • Strong work experience in cloud based database environments.
  • Preferably AWS cloud, AWS Oracle/Postgres /mysql RDS
  • Experience in Git hub/terraform/JIRA/Confluence
  • Experience in Linux and UNIX database environments
  • Experience in managing large databases in datacenter/cloud environments
  • Experience in porting between different database platforms. (ex from Oracle to Postgres)
  • Hands-on experience in using cloud technologies like RDS console, read-replicas, cloud watch, monitoring metrics etc.
  • Strong experience in problem solving and multi-tasking skills (technical and non-technical)
  • Ability to write Python, Unix Shell scripts, lambda scripts for build and deployment automation
  • Good knowledge of database monitoring tools (OEM), data analysis tools, ETL tools, BI tools
  • Implement auto scaling, data distribution, cluster and query performance tuning methods, near real time data sync capabilities.
