Director of FD
Islamic Relief USADirector of Fundraising for Islamic Relief Canada leading annual fundraising strategies and deepening donor relationships. Working with senior leadership to achieve revenue targets and diversify donor base.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the annual fundraising planning process to produce effective strategies to achieve revenue targets across the range of revenue streams
- In cooperation with the COO, lead the development of any long-term strategy to achieve agreed long term organizational goals
- Identify new potential income streams and produce strategies to access these funds
- Produce cost-effective budgets to achieve action plans
- Ensure the Fundraising Department is kept within budget
- Support and partner with the COO and SLT members on all major fundraising initiatives
- Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to develop and implement IRCs Nonprofit's financial strategy
- Actively work with the COO and SLT to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, mosque, government grants, etc.
- Have primary responsibility for development and execution of all proposals; write and archive all proposals with a long-term relationship-management approach
- Oversee research funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position IRCs Nonprofit ahead of major funding changes or trends
- Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to COO and senior leaders
- Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
- Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program
- Identify, develop, and mentor the development team
- Line management of fundraising staff, including: Setting objectives and work plans, Managing workload and performance through regular one-to-one line management discussions, Plan and implement personal development program for team members in all relevant skills, Undertake annual performance reviews
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10-plus years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
- Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
- Strong organizational skills
- Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives
- Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside IRC
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
- High energy and passion for IRCs mission is essential
- Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan
- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
- Demonstrable track record of Strategic Fundraising
- Successful, significant and relevant achievement at management level in a comparable national/international organization
- Experience of utilizing the strength of an organization brand for charity/business development
- Proven track record of meeting challenging revenue targets
- Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client and donor relationships.
- Experience of developing and implementing strategic and business plans
- Proven track record in fundraising that has directly resulted in increased income for an organization.
