About the role
- Design, develop, and configure PSCAD models for supporting Power Plant Controller (PPC) deployments.
- Create PPC models in PSCAD and test responses to closely model the responses from field measurements.
- Lead 3rd party PSCAD study efforts by creating PPC control loop specification drawings.
- Improve PPC and Inverter models.
- Develop and maintain design, solution, and component specifications.
- Collaborate with the HIL Engineer on Typhoon HIL simulation project files.
- Assist in hardware devices connected to the HIL testbed and deploy TCP/Modbus or C37.112 PMU servers or clients.
- Assist in battery power plant (BPP) Commissioning operations efforts.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of four (4) years in related experience in the field.
- Experience in transient simulations with Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs) with integration of PSCAD controllers.
- Experience with power systems transient simulations in at least one of the following technologies is a must: PSCAD, Typhoon HIL, RTDS.
- Ideal if candidate has experience in working on or with (IBR) technology.
