About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work under close supervision in disseminating complex health and medical-related information
- Respond to public inquiries via phone calls, email, postal mail, and Live Chat
- Develop standard and custom language for public inquiries
- Conduct online literature searches of NIH-approved websites and databases
- Make resource referrals as appropriate
- Manage incoming telephone calls, assessing caller’s needs, and verifying information
- Draft custom responses to written and email inquiries
- Cross-train across other NIH contracts for inquiry response support
- Conduct research and data gathering, including manual and online literature searches
- Prepare original drafts of frequently asked questions in plain language
- Participate in developing materials used in responding to inquiries
- Review health-related journals to draft knowledge base articles
- Prepare monthly continuing education presentations
- Provide onsite support at professional meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S./B.A. degree in a science or health-related discipline
- 3-4 years’ experience in the health information, health education and/or mental health field(s) is highly desired
- Native Spanish speaker highly preferred
- Familiarity with health care terminology a plus
- Experience in using the Internet and resource databases is needed
- Excellent client service skills, dependability, and follow-through
- Task and detail-oriented; able to work within established deadlines and perform assignments with a high degree of accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish are required.
