About the role
- Direct the design, coordination, and technical oversight of high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) systems across different technology and resources such as solar, wind, battery storage, datacenter, and natural gas projects.
- Set the strategy for utility interconnection, optimize complex substation and transmission designs, and support projects from early development through financing, construction, and commissioning.
- Provide ongoing technical support to Operations and compliance, ensuring assets perform reliably throughout their lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with Development, Permitting, Construction, Finance, Operations, and external EPCs, utilities, and consultants.
Requirements
- 15+ years total experience, with significant time spent in a technical leadership or management capacity.
- Extensive experience in clean energy project development, including interconnection, owner’s engineering/IE oversight, EPC management, and commercial negotiations.
- Deep experience leading HV substation/collector design (34.5-500 kV) at a developer, EoR, or EPC.
- Experience delivering utility-scale projects through energization.
- Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams and external consultants/contractors.
- Strong understanding of HV transmission, substation equipment, MV distribution, metering, relaying, and SCADA/plant controllers.
- Technical expertise in power system design, optimization, and studies.
- Understanding of interconnection processes in ERCOT and similar markets.
- Advanced knowledge of steady-state modeling tools such as ETAP, SKP, or DigSILENT.
