About the role
- Act as the internal SME for MV collection design, construction readiness, and commissioning across Solar, BESS, DTC, and Gas projects.
- Maintain and continuously improve Master specifications, test templates, FAT checklists, installation specs, commissioning checklists, and lessons learned.
- Own MV cable specifications and define installation requirements including terminations and splices, shielding details, and grounding/bonding schemes to ensure constructibility, safety, and long-term reliability.
- Own technical requirements for MV cable testing and acceptance and support troubleshooting and corrective actions for MV cable issues.
- Own MVT specifications and lead transformer design reviews with OEMs.
- Conduct vendor and MVT technical due diligence and support and/or witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and review FAT procedures, and results.
- Provide technical oversight during construction and commissioning, including responding to RFIs, punch list support, and root-cause analyses for MV collection equipment issues.
- Provide construction/commissioning readiness input including receiving inspection, oil handling, pre-energization checks, and acceptance documentation.
- Coordinate with EPCs, OEMs, cable contractors, third-party test firms, and commissioning teams.
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering with minimum required experience. Masters or PhD is a plus
- 8+ years of experience in MV collection systems and MV Transformers for utility-scale generation/storage and/or industrial power projects.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and typical utility/EPC practices (examples: IEEE/IEC cable and transformer standards, NETA/ANSI acceptance testing concepts)
- Deep expertise in MV cable systems including Cable selection/specification, accessories, splicing/terminations, installation practices, and field acceptance testing.
- Proven expertise in MVT specification and due diligence including Transformer design review participation, submittal evaluation, and FAT involvement.
- Strong knowledge of MV collection construction means/methods and QA/QC practices.
- Working knowledge of applicable IEEE/IEC standards and industry practices for MV cables/transformers
- Familiarity with acceptance testing practices (e.g., NETA-style approaches) and documentation expectations
- Ability to create/maintain specs, test plans, FAT checklists, and inspection/acceptance criteria
