About the role
- Identify and assess operational-level medical logistics requirements from subordinate and tactical inputs, compare them against current and projected capabilities, and provide recommendations to Office of the Force Surgeon leadership and functional staff.
- Monitor unclassified and classified communications to identify emerging medical logistics requirements, issues, and updates.
- Develop and manage Health Service Support (HSS) medical logistics Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
- Review and quality-assure staff products, including briefs, action plans, and supporting documentation, and provide actionable feedback.
- Participate in working groups (WGs), operational planning teams (OPTs), synchronization meetings, and cross-functional touchpoints across Marine Forces Pacific, United States Indo-Pacific Command, and adjacent components.
- Maintain operational task visibility by updating Office of the Force Surgeon Microsoft Teams task trackers and tasking tools.
- Provide weekly activity updates, including quad slides and brief summaries, and elevate issues requiring Force Surgeon or Office of the Force Surgeon support.
- Provide medical logistics inputs to annual assessments and campaign and Annex Q-related cycles, and support trip reports when directed.
- Participate in and inform planning events, including working groups, operational planning teams, operation plans (OPLANs), concepts of operations (CONOPs), and emergent planning, by providing coordinated medical logistics assessments, opinions, and expertise.
- Monitor doctrinal and policy updates, whether unclassified or classified as applicable, and advise on required adjustments to Office of the Force Surgeon and Marine Forces Pacific policy, doctrine, or plans.
- Provide medical logistics-specific inputs for exercise plans and Annex Q products, and coordinate planning alignment with sustainment realities and subordinate and adjacent medical logistics elements.
- Produce timely, analytically supported recommendations and brief products when requested, including gap and shortfall identification with mitigations, Class VIII status and readiness, program health, and allied and partner capability assessments.
- Deliver recurring reports, including monthly status reports and quarterly reports, aligned to government formats and timelines, and incorporate leadership feedback.
- Follow Office of the Force Surgeon and Marine Forces Pacific internal reviews to eliminate errors and omissions, ensure technical accuracy, and revise products quickly when non-compliant.
- Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- Six or more years of experience supporting military logistics and sustainment operations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight on mission-critical and high-visibility work.
- Experience across Department of Defense joint service and international military and civilian logistics networks.
- Working knowledge of United States Navy medical logistics systems and reporting, including MAXIMO Logistics Command & Control.
- Advanced proficiency with collaboration tools and Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Military schooling such as Staff Non-commissioned Officer Academy, Career Level School, Expeditionary Warfare School, and/or Supply School.
- Experience with Global Combat Support System–Marine Corps (GCSS-MC) functions.
- Supply chain or logistics certifications such as Association for Supply Chain Management / American Production and Inventory Control Society Certified Supply Chain Professional or Certified in Planning and Inventory Management, Institute for Supply Management Certified Professional in Supply Management, or International Society of Logistics Certified Professional Logistician, or equivalent.
- Healthcare or medical logistics credential such as Association for Health Care Resource & Materials Management Certified Materials & Resource Professional, or equivalent medical materiel or readiness credential.
- Prior relevant military occupational specialty experience such as United States Marine Corps Military Occupational Specialty 0491, United States Navy Logistics Specialist Navy Enlisted Classification, Army Military Occupational Specialty 68J, or United States Air Force Specialty Code 4A131.
- Project Management Professional certification or equivalent.
- Additional Professional Military Education or Joint Professional Military Education that strengthens joint and coalition planning effectiveness.
- Applicable United States Navy Additional Qualification Designator(s) or completion of United States Marine Corps Ground Supply Officer School.
