About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide comprehensive, culturally appropriate, client-centered case management services for domestic and foreign victims of sex and/or labor trafficking
  • Complete eligibility screenings and enrollment paperwork
  • Develop service plans and educate clients about community services, resources, and legal rights
  • Help clients problem-solve barriers to accessing services
  • Maintain knowledge of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, related regulations, reauthorizations, and policies
  • Maintain relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies
  • Execute strategies to identify and refer trafficking victims in Iowa
  • Ensure participants’ acute needs are met in a timely and culturally appropriate manner
  • Provide needs assessments, safety planning, crisis intervention, and coordination of multidisciplinary services through local partners
  • Provide legal referrals and arrange social activities aligned with service plans
  • Ensure services and referrals are linguistically appropriate and advocate with mainstream service providers
  • Complete thorough and timely case notes
  • Manage case files, track program activities, compile data, and draft donor- and agency-required reports
  • Coordinate services across multiple programs
  • Participate in program meetings and staff development activities
  • Comply with IRC policies, procedures, protocols, and the IRC Way
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Services or similar field is strongly preferred; comparable related work experience may be substituted
  • 2-3 years minimum working with victims of human trafficking or other vulnerable populations
  • Case management and/or victims assistance experience preferred
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Spanish-bilingual ability preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively as a team member with collaborative partners, the community, and clients in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment
  • Computer literacy
  • Database experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and be a flexible team player
  • Valid driver's license
  • Active insurance policy
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Must complete OVC’s Understanding Human Trafficking Training
