Protection Assistant – Community Based
INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEEProtection Assistant role focused on community-based protection of vulnerable populations. Supporting the quality of protection outcomes through community actions and direct engagement with displaced individuals.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide support in strengthening the quality of protection outcomes by catalyzing community actions around the PSNs
- Promote community-based protection of Forcibly Displaced and Stateless Persons (FDSPs)
- Strengthening and working with community-based structures
- Provide direct support to PSNs and draw from synergy with the larger community protection components
- Facilitate operation of protection help desks registering complaints and providing timely responses
- Ensure mobilization and creation of protection information in the community
- Identify gaps in terms of protection and community services
- Strengthen capacities of community-based structures
- Ensure daily implementation of community-based sub-sector activities as planned
- Conduct protection monitoring and raise concerns to the Protection Officer (CBP)
- Identify beneficiaries in need of further support and ensure timely external or internal referral
Requirements
What you’ll need- Relevant university degree (e.g. psychology, social work, pedagogy or education, international development) or equivalent professional qualification
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience in protection in humanitarian setting
- Experience in the delivery of community programs to vulnerable groups
- Understanding of protection principles, protection minimum standards and basic psychosocial support concepts
- Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and prioritize the safety and dignity of beneficiaries at all times
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Ability to communicate and write in English.
