About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead preparation and review of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K disclosures
- Support the earnings release process
- Oversee recurring filings for federal and state regulators, GSEs, warehouse lenders, investors, and other stakeholders
- Research and document accounting conclusions for complex matters, including mortgage servicing rights, securitizations, debt transactions, acquisitions, fair value measurements, and strategic initiatives
- Prepare and oversee statutory reporting for subsidiaries
- Serve as a key contact for external auditors, legal counsel, regulators, and internal stakeholders
- Partner with Internal Audit, SOX Compliance, Accounting Operations, and operational teams on internal controls over financial reporting
- Lead executive-level financial reporting packages, board support materials, earnings support, and management reporting deliverables
- Drive process improvement, standardization, and automation across financial reporting processes
- Promote best practices for reporting documentation, review procedures, data integrity, and cross-functional collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop financial reporting professionals
- Build cross-functional relationships across Finance and related business teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or equivalent required
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience managing accounting or financial reporting teams
- Public company and SEC reporting experience required
- Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Ability to research and resolve complex accounting matters
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare financial statement disclosures and present complex information to senior leaders
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Must pass the Company’s Background Screening process before employment
- May be required to pass client-specific background checks or applicable federal/state licensing requirements
