Provides direct therapy procedures and interventions under the Direct/General supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist based on placement of service
Assesses patient performance commensurate with their training and qualifications
Recommends equipment or alteration to architectural barriers to the therapist of record
May act as clinical instructor and/or assist with orientation of new employees or volunteers
Intervenes with self-care, home management, therapeutic activities, manual muscle and range of motion tests, positioning/seating, transfers, fine and gross motor skills, neuromuscular facilitation, motor control, design/fabrication/application of selected orthotics or prosthetic devices, pressure garment fitting, guidance in selection/use of adaptive equipment, exercises to enhance functional performance, functional training for community/home/work reintegration, work simulation, ergonomics, energy conservation, joint protection, feeding techniques, oral motor facilitation, functional mobility, therapeutic modalities, sensorimotor activities, psychosocial skills and behavior management, cognitive retraining, and appraisal/adaptation of environments
Educates persons served and other stakeholders
Communicates and documents treatment and appropriate charges for treatment per policy and procedure
Reports to the therapist delegating and the assigned Manager or Director
May float to other units, be required to be on call, work weekends, or flex schedule
Required to work with wheelchairs, walkers, and other rehab equipment daily
Frequent exposure to chemicals, heat, pool chemicals, grease, tools, and potential physical hazards; must follow universal safety precautions
Requirements
Associates degree from an accredited school for Occupational Therapy Assistants
Current Oklahoma Occupational Therapy Assistant license OR be eligible for license in the state of Oklahoma and able to practice under the Oklahoma Occupational Therapy Practice Act
Must have completed licensure by 6 months after initial temporary license is issued
Current BLS or CPR certification upon hire or completion within 30 days of hire required
Previous experience preferred
Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written)
