Certified Coding Specialist Sr – Surgical Coding
INTEGRIS HealthCertified Coding Specialist Sr analyzing surgical codes for INTEGRIS Health in Oklahoma City, OK. Providing expertise in coding accuracy and compliance with health regulations.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyzes relevant clinical and demographic information from the Health Information record
- Assigns appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes following appropriate guidelines
- Ensures compliance with CMS, state and other regulatory agencies
- Provides mentorship and training to on-boarding coders
- Completes analysis of documentation, abstracting and code assignment by body system, organ, etiology and morphology
- Performs queries and obtains documentation required for coding for records maintained in other departments
- Coordinates documentation needs, query follow-up and final DRG assignment with the Clinical Documentation Specialist
- Reviews provider documentation for coding appropriateness
- Analyzes medical records to complete accurate code selection
- Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes for clinic visits, surgical procedures/deliveries, and other billable professional services
- Acts as a mentor to other team members
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, coding and application
- Knowledge of various computer applications including Windows, Excel, healthcare information systems and encoders
- One of the following:
- - CCS: Certified Coding Specialist Certification and two years of coding experience
- - CPC: Certified Professional Coder and two years of coding experience
- - CRC: Certified Risk Adjustment Coder and two years of HCC coding experience
- - RHIT: Registered Heath Information Technologist Certification.
- - RHIA: Registered Health Information Administrator Certification .
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (Oral/Written)
