About the role
- Supporting, performing or leading site characterization studies, feasibility studies, and engineering evaluations on contaminated soil, groundwater, and sediment remediation and drinking water treatment projects
- Planning and overseeing sampling of soil, groundwater, soil gas, sediment, and biota
- Procuring and managing subcontractors (e.g., laboratories, drillers, sampling crews)
- Preparing design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for remedial actions
- Providing support for permitting applications
- Performing or overseeing construction quality assurance activities
- Supporting or leading litigation or allocation matters
- Managing projects and tasks
- Communicating technical information to varied audiences (e.g., clients, staff, regulators, and stakeholders), including writing technical reports
- Assembling and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Mentoring and collaborating with staff across business practices
Requirements
- M.S. or Ph.D. degree in environmental or civil engineering
- 10+ years of professional experience in environmental investigation and remediation
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or an E.I.T. certification with the ability to obtain a PE license within 1 year
- Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training Certification
- Demonstrated experience in the remedial investigation, design, and implementation process, including sampling plan development and implementation, data analysis, and remedy/process design and construction for one or more of the following media: soil, groundwater, sediment, indoor air, wastewater, or drinking water.
- Experience managing investigation and/or construction contractors at environmental remediation sites
- Experience collecting and/or interpreting geotechnical sampling data in soil and/or sediment
- Experience performing and/or interpreting groundwater, surface water, and/or stormwater modeling
- Experience supporting permitting applications for upland and sediment construction activities (e.g., under NPDES, Section 401/404, NEPA, etc.)
- Experience developing cost estimates for investigation and remedial actions in upland and sediment settings
- Willingness to travel
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A desire to grow both intellectually and professionally
- Possess strong organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers.
