About the role
- Lead the end to end accounting and operational oversight of our sales commission programs.
- Partner with Sales Operations, Revenue, FP&A, Legal, Payroll, and HR to operationalize compensation plans.
- Provide excellent customer service in resolving commission inquiries, disputes, and escalations.
- Translate complex compensation plans into clear accounting outcomes and operational processes.
- Lead the administration and optimization of the Varicent incentive compensation system.
- Oversee and optimize the incentive compensation management platform, Varicent.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to reduce manual calculations and improve automation across the commission lifecycle.
- Drive system enhancements and integrations to support growth and international expansion.
- Oversee the monthly and quarterly commission accounting process.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of commission expense in compliance with US GAAP and ASC 606.
- Utilize advanced NetSuite GL functionality to streamline month-end close.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of three commission accounting professionals.
- Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans.
- Design, maintain, and enhance internal controls over commission calculations in a SOX compliant environment.
- Partner with Internal Audit and external auditors to support audit requests and walkthroughs.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in commission accounting within a SaaS or subscription based environment.
- Previous experience with system implementation and user requirement definitions.
- 3+ years of people management experience, including coaching and developing high performing teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606 and capitalization and amortization of sales commissions.
- Experience working in a publicly traded company with SOX compliance requirements.
- Experience with incentive compensation management tools such as Xactly, CaptivateIQ, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated project management experience, with the ability to lead cross functional initiatives and system implementations.
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to partner effectively with Sales and executive stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical accounting concepts to non technical audiences.
