About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage a portfolio of surety files, typically composed of mid- to large-scale contractors
  • Analyze and approve surety bond requests within the analyst's authority and according to established procedures
  • Prepare documentation and make recommendations for significant projects, including presentations to reinsurers when required
  • Conduct annual reviews, risk analyses, and financial updates of contractor files to establish bonding limits
  • Organize meetings with brokers and contractors and strengthen business relationships
  • Participate in construction and surety industry events
  • Communicate and negotiate the terms and conditions of contractor files
  • Contribute to business development objectives by prospecting and identifying business opportunities
  • Analyze new surety files submitted in accordance with established procedures
  • Demonstrate leadership by providing technical advice, training, and coaching to team members, brokers, and contractors
  • Manage supplier payment requests and/or beneficiary claims in collaboration with the claims/indemnity department
  • Lead and participate in special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in surety, accounting, administration, and/or finance
  • University degree, preferably with a specialization in accounting, business administration, and/or finance
  • Professional designation (CPA, CGA or CMA) or CFA is an asset
  • Excellent analytical, synthesis, and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of the surety and/or construction industry is an asset
  • Ability to develop strong, personalized business relationships
  • Client-, results- and solutions-oriented
  • Team player with leadership qualities
  • Strong organizational skills, business acumen (negotiation), attention to detail, autonomy, and initiative
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and spoken French
  • Bilingual (French and English) — required to interact regularly with colleagues across the country
