About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Directs effective product development, pricing and underwriting through managing all components of profit, loss, and expenses for our largest, and/or most complex product lines
- Achieves profitability and growth goals through the development and execution of annual strategic plan including specific underwriting, pricing, retention, service, and expense plans
- Analyzes book trends and manages catastrophe plans
- Analyzes data on competitors’ products, programs, and pricing levels
- Implements new pricing levels and product modifications
- Enhances existing products and programs
- Maintains a strong professional knowledge of regulatory and legal environments
- Communicates and acts on this information effectively
- Develops methods for building and mobilizing a technically competent and highly effective staff capable of meeting current and future needs of the corporation
- Ensures compliance with underwriting standards and authorities
- Has ultimate underwriting authority for the Surety line of business
- Directs underwriting decisions in compliance with state laws
- Directs in the creation of underwriting guidelines, product and coverage forms or system modifications
- Monitors corporate results, develops and implements actions as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required
- 10 years Surety bond experience or related education/experience
- Minimum 5-7 Supervisory/Management years of experience required
- MBA, AFSB designation highly desirable
