About the role
- Underwrites risks including the selection and rejection of new and renewal business for the most complex, specialty accounts
- Maximizes opportunities for underwriting profitable new and renewal business
- Develops and maintains an active target account list
- Manages financial performance of all assigned products
- Executes underwriting strategy, including portfolio management
- Ensures compliance with standards and assigned underwriting authorities
- Makes underwriting decisions to accept, decline, or modify risks
- Develops superior working relationships with producers
- Analyzes trends and implements proactive strategies
- Gathers and analyzes competitor information
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 7-10 years of progressively more complex specialty lines underwriting experience
- Professional insurance designation is preferred (AICPCU, RPLU)
