About the role
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, customers, and development teams.
- Conduct detailed business analysis to identify and understand the business needs of stakeholders.
- Leverage knowledge of business objectives, products, workflows, processes, and industry trends to help the team develop innovative solutions that deliver value to end users and address unique risks and challenges.
- Define and communicate actionable product vision, strategy, and roadmap to both business and delivery teams, collaborating closely to ensure design solutions that deliver value to the end user and ensure timely, accurate product delivery.
- Develop and document business requirements, personas, use cases, user journey mappings, wireframes or other needed documentation to facilitate discussions and document the product.
- Maintain a Product Backlog that is refined, prioritized, and ready for delivery team consumption.
- Facilitate team effectiveness by answering questions, providing clarification and assisting delivery team members with their understanding of the request and the expected outcome.
- Ensure the Acceptance Criteria is defined for each story.
- Lead successful product delivery using Agile frameworks across maintenance, enhancements, and major initiatives, promoting best practices, continuous improvement, and effective collaboration with employees and vendor partners.
- Build upon knowledge of the company's business environment and how assigned business and/or service units contribute to the company’s strategic objectives.
- Maintain current knowledge of insurance industry developments and stay updated with the latest trends and developments in the market.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the implementation of solutions.
- Gather and incorporate feedback from customers and stakeholders to continuously improve the product.
- Track and report on project progress, helping to identify and mitigate risks as needed.
- Analyze and evaluate existing business processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and efficiency.
- Serves as a change agent, supporting adoption of new systems, processes, and business capabilities across the organization.
- Influences through data-driven storytelling and structured communication, ensuring alignment and clarity across diverse groups.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable, related work experience in business administration, finance, IT, or related field preferred.
- 7+ years of related experience as a business analyst and/or product owner.
- Experience in Property/Casualty or Specialty insurance markets and claims processing required.
- CPCU or IIA Certifications or comparable insurance certification preferred.
- CBAP, or comparable Business Analysis or Product Owner certifications desired.
