About the role
- Underwrites risks including the selection and rejection of new and renewal business for complex, specialty accounts.
- Maximizes opportunities for underwriting profitable business based on market conditions.
- Develops and maintains an active target account list tracking prospects.
- Manages financial performance including loss ratio, premium plans, and commission targets.
- Ensures compliance with standards and assigned underwriting authorities.
- Makes decisions to accept, decline, or modify risks within authority levels.
- Develops working relationships with producers to achieve growth and profitability goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 7-10 years of progressively more complex specialty lines underwriting experience.
- Professional insurance designation is preferred (AICPCU, RPLU).
