About the role
- Maximizes opportunities for underwriting profitable new and renewal business
- Develops and maintains an active target account list
- Manages financial performance of all assigned products in assigned territory
- Underwrites a book of business
- Manages underwriting quality and book management
- Executes underwriting strategy
- Ensures compliance with standards and assigned underwriting authorities
- Makes underwriting decisions to accept, decline, or modify risks
- Develops superior working relationships with producers
- Works closely with and establishes strong business partnerships with other departments
- Anticipates the needs of the agency plant and implements proactive strategies
- Gathers and analyzes competitor information
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 7-10 years of progressively more complex specialty lines underwriting experience
- Professional insurance designation is preferred (AICPCU, RPLU).
