About the role

  • Provide remote, tailored audience development advisory support to media teams operating in restrictive environments across Latin America during the project implementation period.
  • Support the design and implementation of audience growth and development strategies adapted to each outlet’s editorial work.
  • Advise teams on understanding metrics, their audiences, audience segmentation, and the development of digital communities around their journalistic content.
  • Guide the adaptation and distribution of journalistic content into formats suitable for different digital platforms, with the aim of maximizing reach, engagement, and impact.
  • Apply a practical, results-oriented methodology based on measurable progress and documented deliverables.
  • Ensure full compliance at all times with IWPR security protocols and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct an initial working diagnosis with the assigned media outlet to identify areas of support and determine the activities required according to measurable objectives.
  • Design audience development and content distribution strategies adapted to the needs and capacities of each media outlet.
  • Advise teams on the strategic use of social media and other digital platforms to strengthen the visibility and impact of their journalistic work.
  • Provide structured feedback on audience growth strategies, content distribution efforts, and the products developed by the teams.
  • Coordinate regularly with IWPR to report progress, identify challenges, and adjust advisory strategies when necessary.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) in audience development, digital strategy, or media growth.
  • Ability to advise journalistic teams on the strategic use of social media and other digital platforms to expand the reach, engagement, and impact of journalistic content.
  • Strong knowledge of audience analysis, audience segmentation, and the use of digital analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media metrics, newsletter metrics, or other performance measurement tools).
  • Experience in designing and implementing data-driven audience growth and content distribution strategies.
  • Ability to work remotely with teams operating in complex contexts or with limited connectivity.
  • Strong capacity to conduct diagnostics, design work strategies, define measurable objectives, and produce written reports.
  • Knowledge of or sensitivity to the challenges faced by independent media operating in restrictive environments.
  • Spanish is mandatory and English is desirable.
