About the role
- Own the vision and roadmap for Instacart’s Invoicing Platform — the financial backbone that powers 90%+ of all orders and billions in transactions annually.
- Serve as the guardian of the customer experience for Totals UX — shaping how subtotals, discounts, fees, and taxes are displayed across checkout, order status, and receipts; partner with surface-owning teams to ensure clarity, transparency, performance, and trust in every customer interaction.
- Unify invoicing across online and in-store into a single modular platform that reduces complexity and accelerates innovation.
- Safeguard compliance and accuracy in tax, fees, and other regulatory requirements — protecting financial integrity and customer trust.
- Enable critical retailer integrations and settlements with accurate, timely invoicing data — partnering closely with R&D teams, Finance/Accounting, and Retail teams.
- Provide source-of-truth financial data powering downstream reporting, tax logs, affordability metrics, and quarterly earnings.
- Lead a cross-functional team (~15 engineers, Data Science, and Product Ops) to build scalable, extensible, high-performing systems.
- Bridge technical depth and business impact — partner with engineering to shape APIs, data models, and integrations while aligning with company-wide priorities.
- Communicate product strategy and progress with clarity — driving alignment and momentum across executives, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement in invoicing systems to support future customer, shopper, and retailer experiences.
