About the role
- Drive end-to-end design initiatives across Instacart+ and Incentives—from problem framing and discovery through exploration, iteration, prototyping, and delivery.
- Design subscription and promotional experiences across key surfaces including home, browse, cart, checkout, post-order, and lifecycle touchpoints (email, push, in-app).
- Frame problems clearly, explore multiple solution paths, and articulate tradeoffs grounded in customer insight, experimentation, and business impact.
- Translate experience principles into thoughtful flows, content hierarchy, and interaction patterns that align with Instacart’s design system and brand.
- Leverage AI-assisted prototyping and concept development alongside strong craft—bringing clarity and rigor to generated concepts that meet system constraints.
- Design for visual clarity, pacing, and density across subscription and incentive surfaces; collaborate with system owners to ensure consistency and quality.
- Partner with Research and Data Science to uncover insights related to subscription behavior, incentives, and repeat usage, translating findings into journey refinements.
- Help shape value propositions, naming, and messaging within Instacart+ and Incentives; create clear artifacts (flows, decks, prototypes) that align cross-functional partners.
- Elevate quality by advocating for cohesive, user-centered solutions and providing thoughtful critique and mentorship within the team.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience designing consumer-facing digital products across web and mobile.
- Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end feature or journey design, including multi-step flows and lifecycle touchpoints.
- Experience in digital commerce, audience growth, subscription, incentives, pricing, or monetization-focused initiatives.
- Fluency in Figma and Google Slides, with the ability to produce high-fidelity UI and interaction design aligned to a design system.
- Proven track record connecting design decisions to measurable outcomes (e.g., activation, retention, conversion) and partnering on experimentation.
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive multiple projects in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Strong communication skills: framing problems, articulating tradeoffs, and presenting design rationale to cross-functional partners.
